Contramestre Turracha started Capoeira in Goiania-Brazil at the beginning of the 90’s and since then has been traveling world wide to spread the Culture of Capoeira. After participating in various events in Brazil and Europe (Spain, France, England) he decided to teach and create a group in the United States. In 2009 he moved to NYC and joined his brother Mestre Andre Gusmao to open a gym dedicated to developing the practice of Capoeira. Since then Capoeira Nago NYC has incorporated inumerous workshops, events, classes and more to spread Capoeira in the big apple. It is a place that offers all the infrastructure needed for the practice of Capoeira in a safe, clean and great enviroment.
"I’ve been going to Nago Academy for over a year now and I am very happy to have a fun place to exercise instead just another gym. Their location is awesome and it allows me to do a workout at noon twice a week. The staff is key to this great gym. Definitely recommend it if you are looking to break from the boring gym routine"
"As a busy corporate attorney, I am always on the go and I travel often for work. Whenever I am in New York City, I make sure to stop at the Nago Academy to train and to sweat off the stress from a busy day of offsite work."
